Janet B. Milstein is an actor, acting teacher, award-winning audition coach, best-selling author, and series editor. She received her MFA in Acting from Binghamton University in New York (SUNY), and her BA in Theatre with Distinction from the University of Delaware.

Janet has an extensive background in theatre, having performed at numerous theatres with a variety of companies, including the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, the Organic Theater, Collaboraction, Bailiwick, The Artistic Home, ImprovOlympic, Tinfish Productions, Stage Left Theatre, Mary-Arrchie Theatre, Speaking Ring Theatre, Stockyards, Point of Contention, Women’s Theatre Alliance at Chicago Dramatists, Writers’ Block at the Theatre Building, Symposium at National Pastime Theater, Theatre Q, and more.

Janet has appeared numerous independent films, including the award-winning film Power Singles which she co-wrote with Barbara Lhota. Janet was recently cast in the films Donuts, Zero Count and The Silent Truth. Janet wrote and directed the short film Not Scene and has done some casting and directing for both theater and film. Janet also works in industrials and voice-overs.

Janet was a founding member and the Artistic Director of Symposium Theatre Company in Chicago. She is a co-organizer of the film organization Filmmakers In Action. She has represented her publisher, Smith and Kraus, Inc. at conferences such as The Association for Theatre In Higher Education (ATHE), The American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE), The Texas Educational Theatre Association (TETA), and Florida State Thespians.
